Sampling

Sampling - Water, Waster Water, Soils and Sludge Service

pt environmental have a broad experience in specialist adhoc sampling programs. Examples of some of the varied programs are listed below.

Contact pt environmental to discuss your sampling requirements.

Examples of Previous Experience

Offshore monitoring program

Offshore and onshore monitoring program was carried out for many years at Gunnamatta. This program included eight sites onshore and thirteen sites offshore.

Offshore Sampling program

A client required some background information for the intending bid for an offshore program. The scope of work was to carry out raw water sampling and insitu testing at a point 2 kms offshore.

Lake – profile sampling and analyses

A client required dissolved oxygen profile monitoring at a Lake near the outlet tower. Depth sampling of the Lake was carried out and at each profile level total iron and manganese, filtered manganese (laboratory filtered), true colour, turbidity, temperature and dissolved oxygen was determined.

Stormwater Quality Sampling at Patterson Lakes

Our client was involved in some major works at Patterson Lakes and required some specialised sampling for water, sediments and several insitu parameters.

Landfill – report

Management of sampling and analyses of landfill bore monitoring program. Report included collation of recent and previous results outlining findings and provision of findings and recommendations.

Biosolids – depth sampling and specialised sampling for organics and major ions.

Specialised biosolid sampling was carried out at TP. Several bisolid mounds which ranged in depth from three to ten metres were sampled and analysed for a range of major ions and a selection of chlorinated  organics.

Stabilised Clay – cement/lime long term investigation

Our client propose to use its TP clay-rich biosolids for structural fill and development work to date has demonstrated its long term stability if amended with lime and cement. However, the suitability of the material has recently been queried, based on the hypotheses that the small quantity of organic material in the biosolids may break down over a long period of time and lead to deformation of a fill structure in which the biosolids is a layer.

An investigation was carried out to better understand the effect of the organics component on the structural behaviour of the fill.

Sampler training

Several client specific sampler training programs were presented to their staff. The presentation covered specific sampling and analytical needs.

Stormwater Main Drain – stormwater sampling and assessment program

Our client required some background information regarding the suitability of stormwater for irrigation. Flow measurements of the stormwater drain was carried out over a designated period with water samples taken to characterise the source.

The stormwater samples were analysed for the following parameters : – dissolved oxygen, temperature, chloride, E.coli, Enterococci, Electrical conductivity, PAH, TPH, suspended solids, pH, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, sulphate, alkalinity, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, total nitrogen, total phosphorus and turbidity.

A report was presented outlining results from the acquired data and relevant recommendations were made regarding possible treatment and reuse options

Site Investigation – contaminated site cleanup recommendation report

A client required a preliminary site investigation to be conducted on a waste transfer station.  A preliminary site assessment was carried out based on AS4482.1-2005 “Guide to the investigation and sampling of sites with potentially contaminated soil”. Recommendations were made on clean-up and remediation of the site.
